Hydrogen peroxide is a strong oxidant. Its oxidation potential exceeds that of potassium permanganate. On the other hand, hydrogen peroxide is a weak water disinfectant, because its oxidation reaction is not instant. The reaction is quite slow and can take up to 24 hrs.
Hydrogen Peroxide of particular concentrations can be used to disinfect tools, bleach hair and textiles, disinfect wounds, and to clean and disinfect surfaces. It can be used in taxidermy for the bleaching of skulls and bones. There are many other applications for hydrogen peroxide.
Hydrogen peroxide is an environmentally friendly product, because it decomposes into water and oxygen.
