Description
The IGCP 521 2006 conference held in Odessa, Ukraine was the second conference in a series of conferences for IGCP 521.
The conference focused on the progress of IGCP 521 Project “Black Sea-Mediterranean Corridor during last 30 ky: Sea level change and human adaptation”. It dutifully covered all aspects of IGCP 521, focusing particularly on anthropology, archaeology, and ethnology.
The conference also provided an international forum for academics, professionals, and young scientists to share their discoveries on the influence of climatically/tectonically induced sea level changes and coastline migration upon humanity.
The IGCP 521 2006 conference discussed the following:
- the actual status of our knowledge on various subjects;
- main achievements and gaps in our knowledge; and
- scientific approaches to integrating environmental, anthropological, ethnological, and archaeological data in order to trace the history of ancient people in the Corridor and to predict future development in coastal zones under various sea-level scenarios.
