Pyrocatechol violet chelates metals to form blue, blue-violet complexes.
As a pH indicator, it changes from red to violet with a transition interval from 0 - 8. When the pH is between 2-7, the color may be yellow.
It is unstable when alkaline. Stability improves at a neutral pH.
