This total water hardness kit tests for water hardness by EDTA titration to determine water hardness with a red to blue endpoint. Both total and calcium hardness buffers include inhibitors to cancel mineral interference. The titration is performed using the provided dropper bottle, with results expressed as ppm CaCO3.

Lamotte Kit 3609 (which we recommend for analyzing salt water) includes a conversion factor for Ca++.
